　定評あるブルーガイド・シリーズ。Barberは考古学者。City Guideの方は、アテネとその周辺（スーニオ、ブラウロン、トリコス、エレウシス、エギナなど）に関する詳しいガイドブック。他方、Greeceの方は、ギリシャ全域をカバーしているため、アテネに関する記述がかなり短くまとめられてしまっている。

　ギリシャ本土の考古学遺跡に関する解説とガイド。島嶼部に関する記述はほとんどない。

Mary Beard, The Parthenon (Wonders of the World), London/ Profile Books 2002.
　古典学者であるBeardがパルテノンの歴史や、パルテノンをめぐる様々な問題を扱った書。研究者向けというより、教養のある一般読者に向けて書かれているので読みやすい。

John M. Camp, The Athenian Agora, Excavations in the Heart of Classical Athens, with 200 illustrations, 11 in colour, London/ Thames and Hudson 1986.
　アテネのアゴラに関する歴史と考古学をまとめている。Campはアゴラの発掘に参加したアメリカの考古学者。

John M. Camp, The Archaeology of Athens, New Haven and London/ Yale University Press 2001.
　アゴラだけではなく、アテネ全体の考古学を時代順に解説している。
Hans Rupprecht Goette, Athens, Attica, and the Megarid: an Archaeological Guide, London/ Routledge 2001
　アテネ、アッティカとメガラ周辺の考古学を解説している。ドイツ語からの翻訳。

Molly Mackenzie, Turkish Athens, The Forgotten Centuries 1456-1832, Reading/ Ithaca Press 1992.
　オスマントルコ時代のアテネの歴史・風物などを簡潔にまとめている。ビザンツ時代に関する記述も多少含む。
Kenneth M. Setton, Athens in the Middle Ages, London/ Variorum Reprints 1975.
　Settonがかつて発表した論文をリプリントとして集めたもの。
