Eastern Façade of the Erechtheion

Erechtheion East

<Location> Acropolis, Athens, Greece.

The Eastern Façade of the Erechtheion. To the left behind is the southern porch with Caryatids.

There are six Ionian columns in front (prostyle). Its hight is 6.7m and the diameter is 0.8m. Behind the columns there used to be the cella for the goddess Athena, but almost nothing remains now. The frieze looks gray; it is because this part is made of Eleusinian limestone.

Erechtheion Facade
This photo was taken in the summer 2005. The eastern façade was in restoration.
