Athena of Gigantomachia

Please note that all the exhibits were moved to the New Acropolis Museum, opened on 20 June 2009.

<Location> Acropolis Archaeological Museum, Acropolis, Athens, Greece

This statue of Athena is belong to the "Gigantomachia" group which was in the pediment of the Old Temple of Athena (Temple of Athena Polias), now totally disappeared.

This statue group is dated to ca. 525-500 BCE.

Here goddess Athena is wearing her Aegis with snake tussels.
