Tripod base, dated to the end of the first century AD. The tripod itself is lost (it was at the top of the monument).
At theatrical festivals of the ancient Athens, the patrons of the play that won the contest got a tripod as trophy. To commemorate it, the winners used to construct this kind of base and place the trophy on it. The most famous of the kind is the monument of Lysikrates in Plaka.
It is difficult see in this photo, but there is inscription on the surface.
