The central market of Athens is situated near Omonia square: if you walk down Athinas street from Omonia toward Monastiraki (toward south), you can find it at your left.
In this building meat and fish are sold. The vegetables are sold on the other side of Athinas street.
There are several tavernas in and near the market. They did not look very attractive to me, but if you want an adventure, you may want to try.
