An imperial Greek inscription of the middle imperial age. The second half of the inscription is erased. It is because the name of the emperor inscribed here. In Roman empire, there was a custom that the "bad" emperors were postumously punished by the Senate that have the authority to decree the elimination of their memory. This act of deletion is commonly called damnatio memoriae, although this expression was never used in Antiquity.
