The Archaeological Museum of Aigina is situated about 10 min. walk from the centre of Aigina town. It houses archaeological materials from the island. This museum was founded in 1829, when the Greeks were still n the war of Independence; it follows that this is the oldest archaeological museum in Greece. The present building was constructed in 1980.

One of the tombs stones exposed in the courtyard. Most of the tombstones in the courtyard came from Rhenia island. They were brought here when Aigina archaeological museum was THE national museum of Greece. Rhenia is the island next to Delos. When the Athenians seized Delos, they moved all the existing tombs to Rhenia island. |
