Sigrí is a small fishing village on the west end of Lesvos. The area around Sigrí looks arid and dry in summer, while Lesvos in general is very green and rich in water.
There are many hotels and restaurants for tourists, but when we visited in August 2009, the town was very quiet and there were few tourists. Many of the visitors to the Natural History Museum in Sigrí seem to come in tourist coaches and leave without passing the village.
The photo above was taken from the Ottoman castle in Sigri.

In the photo left is the main church of Sigrí. It looks more like a public building of Medieval Italy than a Greek Orthodox church. It seemed that the interior decoration had some Italian influence.

We saw a derelict Ottoman bathhouse just in front of the above church.
