Three-isled basilica dated about 525-550. It is famous for its beautiful floor mosaics, but they were completely covered when we visited.
In the photo above is the apse, and below is the inside.
It is known from floor mosaic inscriptions that this church was founded by the bishop of Nikopolis, Doumetios (or Dometios). The dedication was to St. Demetrios.
Left is a turtoise that I found near the site; it was maybe 20 cm long. I often come across turtoises walking around archaeological sites in Greece.
