Byzantine Capital

Capital of Byzantine period. Judging from it shape it wasn't a real capital, but rather a decorative one. A combination of birds and plants is very common in Byzantine decorative art. As you can see better in the photo below, the heads of birds were destroyed. They might not be head of birds, but of human.
